Thurman is Anne’s Son

When I first began this journey, a close friend of the family suggested I call Phillip Causey. Once I did, he put me to ease immediately with his kindness, understanding and wisdom. Helping my son so much in his recovery, and my daughter as well. Encouraging her to move forward in a successful way. He is a wonderful father, advocate, and friend.

Phillip is an integral part of our family. His spiritual strength encourages so many, young and old. He sees the beauty in all walks of life and wants everyone to see so as well. Phillip has a strong voice that leads quietly but assuredly. He is a true gift.

We had recently moved to Florida, and Tom was in and out of recovery, sober houses, and treatment centers. Phillip helped him manage the waters and brought him to where he is today. With two years sobriety, we owe Phillip much of that. He stood by Tom, sponsored, coached, and counseled him, and NEVER gave up!

Through this process, Phillip became a friend, advisor, and healer to the rest of the family. There were many times that we didn’t think we could face another day of his addiction. Phillip always took our calls, day or night, willing to listen. He helped us understand how to stop enabling our son. Phillip continues to offer thoughtful counseling, good humor when needed, and a giving HEART, full of faith!

Tom and Phillip remain close friends to this day. We consider Phillip a very dear friend, and someone who helped bring our son back to us.

The day I was scheduled to attend Phillip’s family sessions, my aunt passed away, and the funeral was the same day. Phillip emphatically replied ‘Miss the funeral, prevent another one.’ Boy, was he right!

By attending Family Healing sessions, I learned to be part of the solution, where there’s hope. It was vital to me and the family in surviving my son’s addiction. It wasn’t easy going. Phillip’s wise words and informative insight gave our family a very detailed blueprint to follow. My son Shawn’s desire to change and break the chains of addiction thankfully offered him a drug-free life with a bright future.

Shawn has proved miracles can, and DO happen. And the first step was attending Phillip’s workshop.

I had the incredibly good fortune to meet Phillip the day I was discharged from an inpatient treatment facility at 24 years old. At that point in my life, I was lost and broken and searching for something or someone to point me in the right direction. I was at a crossroads. That day, Phillip walked into the room and used his uncanny ability to relate to me and make me feel comfortable attending my first AA meeting. Instantly, I understood his intentions were pure and all he wanted to do was help another man who was obviously in need of a new direction. I knew in that moment that he was the one I could really learn from!
